ENR 1.8  REGIONAL SUPPLEMENTARY PROCEDURES

1. MANDATORY CARRIAGE of 8.33 kHz CHANNEL SPACING RADIO EQUIPMENT

The European Regional Supplementary Procedures are applied in accordance with ICAO Doc 7030 EUR.

As of 01 January 2018, aircraft not equipped with 8.33 kHz channel spacing equipment shall not plan to operate throughout the Riga FIR.

The flight plans of all aircraft requiring the provision of ATS as GAT in the airspace designated for 8.33 kHz channel spacing operations will be rejected if not equipped with 8.33 kHz channel spacing radios.

2. STATE AIRCRAFT

Those State aircraft which are infrequent users of the Riga FIR are permanently exempted from the 8.33 kHz channel spacing radio equipment requirement.

Since Latvia does not provide UHF coverage, non-8.33 kHz equipped State aircraft, equipped with UHF will be handled on 25 kHz VHF frequencies.

Note: An infrequent user is one defined as not exceeding 30 hours flying time per airframe per year, within the airspace concerned.

3. REDUCED VERTICAL SEPARATION MINIMUM (RVSM)

The airspace within the Riga CTA between FL 290 and FL 410 inclusive, as described in ENR 2.1, is EUR RVSM airspace.

Within this airspace, the vertical separation minimum shall be:

  1. 300 m (1000 ft) between RVSM approved aircraft;
  2. 600 m (2000 ft) between:
    1. non-RVSM approved aircraft and any other aircraft operating within the EUR RVSM airspace;
    2. formation flights of State aircraft and any other aircraft operating within the EUR RVSM airspace; and
    3. an aircraft experiencing a communications failure in flight and any other aircraft, when both aircraft are operating within the EUR RVSM airspace.
